MEET THE OWNER & FOUNDER OF
THE URBAN JARS BRAND

The Story of Urban Jars
As I reflect on my journey, I am reminded of the moments when my vision took shape. While working as a nanny and in healthcare, I witnessed firsthand the challenges that Canadian families faced, particularly regarding meal options. I realized there was a significant gap in the market for nutrient-dense, unprocessed meals specifically designed for mothers. This insight sparked a deep passion in me to create a business that would not only provide healthy meals but also empower moms everywhere.
The Journey Begins
At just 25, I took a leap of faith and opened my first location in Stratford, Ontario. With my roots deeply embedded in the community, I quickly established a foothold in the meal prep space. I knew I was onto something special. People were watching and soon I was asked by many if they could get involved and run a location of their own. I sold my first location in Stratford after 6 years in business.
Expanding Horizons
In 2022, I expanded my business to St. Thomas, where my husband grew up. Moving to a community where I knew no one was daunting, but I adapted. From 2022 to 2025, I hosting over 130 events in our home, collaborating with beautiful and talented entrepreneurs. In early 2025 I became pregnant. While pregnant, I was able to work until week 35, despite carrying a breech and transverse baby. I was determined to prove to myself that I could balance this business while growing a human, even if it meant pushing my body to its limits.
I truly loved being pregnant. I am now embracing this new chapter of Motherhood and I have returned to work just two months after my C-section. I am juggling the demands of being a new mom, running an Urban Jars Location with a weekly meal prep offering, while building a Canadian franchise. This journey has opened my eyes to the real struggles mothers face every day. The demands of motherhood intertwined with my entrepreneurial path is reinforcing my belief in the need for easy access to healthy meals.
Grounded in Experience
The core of my business is rooted in my personal experiences as a nanny and now mother. I know the stresses of postpartum life all too well—the overwhelming questions about “what to eat?”, the guilt of not preparing meals, and the struggle to maintain energy while caring for a newborn. During my own postpartum period, I found relief in having my fridge stocked with nutritious meal options. This convenience allowed me to focus on what truly mattered: my family.
When I say “for moms, by moms,” I mean it. This isn’t just a catchy phrase; it’s my commitment to understanding the unique challenges mothers face. It’s not about excluding anyone who isn’t a mom; it’s about fostering a community that empathizes with the realities of motherhood.
A Vision for the Future
With every meal prepared and every franchise opened, I aim to advocate for mothers everywhere. My story is one of resilience, determination, and a belief that nutritious meals can truly transform families' lives. As I look to the future, my mission remains clear: to empower mothers by providing them with the tools they need to thrive—both personally and professionally.
This is not just a business to me; it’s a movement born from love and the desire to make a difference in the lives of families across Canada. With each step forward, I am not just feeding families; I am nurturing a community of empowered mothers ready to face the world.
